Pet relocation from Australia to Singapore

Australia is Schedule I, the fastest route into Singapore. No rabies blood test, no waiting periods, and no quarantine on arrival.

Because Australia is rabies-free in AVS's classification, the serology test and the 90-day wait fall away entirely. The timeline is set by the import licence, the endorsed health certificate, the crate and cargo availability — typically a matter of weeks rather than months.

Your pet still needs an ISO microchip, core vaccinations at least two weeks before export, and parasite treatments two to seven days before travel with the active ingredient and date recorded. The residence condition applies: six months in Australia or another Schedule I country before export, or since birth.

Singapore-bound flights from Australia are frequent and relatively short compared with European routes, which usually makes cargo booking and heat planning simpler. Snub-nosed breeds remain the exception, since airline embargoes apply regardless of origin.

I

Australia is a Schedule I country.

Rabies-free. No rabies blood test and no quarantine when the other conditions are met — the fastest route.

Home quarantine may still apply. AVS waives post-arrival quarantine only if your pet arrives within 5 days of your own move to Singapore and has lived with you for the 6 months before import. Otherwise — including pets bought, adopted or rescued overseas — expect a minimum 10-day quarantine at home, with a smart collar tag at S$29 per pet per day and transport by an AVS-designated transporter.

Starting today, the earliest flight lands 7 Dec 2026

That's about 1 month of preparation. Dates assume nothing goes wrong — a failed blood test restarts the middle section.

What these dates assume›
  • The microchip goes in today and the rabies vaccination the next day.
  • Your pet has lived in the exporting country for the previous six months, or since birth.
  • Cargo space is available on the date we want, and the arrival is not a Sunday or public holiday.

Questions

Australia, answered.

Is Australia Schedule I for Singapore pet imports?

Yes. Australia, New Zealand, the Republic of Ireland and the United Kingdom are the four Schedule I countries, which means no rabies serology test and no quarantine when the other conditions are met.

Does my pet need a rabies vaccination to enter Singapore from Australia?

The Schedule I requirements centre on core vaccinations, parasite treatment, the residence rule and an endorsed health certificate rather than rabies serology. We confirm the exact current requirements with AVS for your pet before you commit to dates.

How long does a move from Australia take?

Usually around a month, limited by licensing, the health certificate and cargo space rather than by mandatory waiting periods.
